Tall Emu Targets the ERP Gap Facing Australian Manufacturers and Distributors

Tall Emu brings everything together. One system for sales and operations.

The Australian-built platform gives manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors an alternative to spreadsheets, disconnected software and complex ERP systems.

Growing businesses should not have to choose between running their operations on spreadsheets and buying an oversized enterprise system. There is a middle ground, and that is where Tall Emu fits.”
— Mike Nash, Founder/CEO
SYDNEY, NSW, AUSTRALIA, September 3, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Australian software company Tall Emu is preparing to roll out a major new version of its sales and operations platform, extending the capabilities already used by manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors to manage their businesses from customer enquiry through to delivery.

Tall Emu already brings CRM, quoting, sales orders, inventory, purchasing, manufacturing, warehousing, fulfilment, freight and customer service together in one connected system.

From October, the company will start rolling out a new version featuring:

• A completely redesigned interface
• AI-powered screen design and customisation
• New warehouse scanning capabilities
• Smarter calendars, editable grids and workflows
• More carriers added to Tall Emu Freight Hub’s extensive supported network

The release addresses a common problem facing growing Australian businesses: they have become too large and operationally complex to rely on spreadsheets and disconnected applications, but a traditional enterprise resource planning system can be expensive, oversized and difficult to implement.

As product-based businesses grow, their systems often become increasingly fragmented. Customer information may sit in a CRM, stock is managed in spreadsheets or separate inventory software, production is tracked elsewhere and accounting remains in MYOB or Xero.

Employees repeatedly enter the same information, reconcile conflicting records and rely on individual staff members to make sure nothing is missed. The result can be incorrect stock figures, missed purchasing requirements, production delays, lost sales follow-ups and limited visibility across the business.

At the other end of the market, traditional ERP implementations can require substantial upfront investment, lengthy implementation projects and major changes to established business processes. Businesses can find themselves paying for a large system when what they really need is a practical way to connect customers, sales, stock and operations.

Tall Emu is designed to fill the gap between these two extremes.

“Many Australian businesses reach a point where spreadsheets are no longer enough, but a large ERP feels like an enormous and expensive leap,” said Mike Nash, founder of Tall Emu. “They do not necessarily need to replace everything. They need their customers, orders, stock, purchasing, production and fulfilment to work together properly.”

Tall Emu is designed for product-based businesses, including manufacturers, wholesalers, importers, industrial suppliers, machinery and component distributors, fabricators and businesses producing custom-made goods.

Information can move from the first customer enquiry to quotation, order, purchasing, manufacturing, picking, shipping and customer service without being repeatedly entered into separate systems.

Businesses can continue using MYOB or Xero for accounting while Tall Emu manages the operational work surrounding it. This avoids replacing a trusted accounting platform simply because the business needs stronger inventory, manufacturing or distribution capabilities.

The new version will make these connected processes faster and easier to manage. Its redesigned interface will introduce smarter calendars, editable grids and improved workflows, while AI-powered screen design and customisation will provide greater flexibility to tailor the platform around the way each business operates.

New warehouse scanning capabilities will support barcode-driven stock handling, picking, packing and dispatch.

Tall Emu Freight Hub is already live, enabling businesses to quote freight, create consignments, print labels and track shipments without leaving Tall Emu. Additional carriers are being added to its supported network, providing greater choice while keeping freight connected to sales and fulfilment.

“Growing businesses should not have to choose between running their operations on spreadsheets and buying an oversized enterprise system,” Nash said. “There is a middle ground, and that is where Tall Emu fits. It provides the operational capability manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors need, without the cost and complexity of a traditional ERP.”

Tall Emu is Australian-owned, developed for Australian and New Zealand businesses and supported by a Sydney-based team. The platform can also be customised to accommodate industry-specific processes.

The new version of Tall Emu will begin rolling out from October 2026.
