South Korean Leader Approval Rating Drops 0.4 Percentage Points
(MENAFN) South Korean President Lee Jae-myung saw a slight drop in his approval rating last week, falling 0.4 percentage points to 69.1%, according to a recent survey. The weekly poll, conducted by local firm Flower Research through computer-assisted telephone interviews (CATI), revealed an uptick in disapproval of his handling of state affairs. The negative sentiment rose by 0.7 percentage points, reaching 29.4%.
Meanwhile, the ruling Democratic Party saw a modest increase in support, rising 0.7 percentage points to 56.3%, while the conservative People Power Party gained a slight 0.1 percentage point, bringing its approval to 25.5%.
Support for smaller parties also remained relatively unchanged, with the left-wing Rebuilding Korea Party at 1.5% and the right-wing New Reform Party at 3.1%.
In a separate survey using an automated response system (ARS), Lee's approval rating saw a stronger increase of 3.2 percentage points, reaching 64.0% compared to the prior week.
The CATI survey involved 1,003 voters, while the ARS poll included 1,006 respondents, both conducted from Friday to Saturday. Both polls carried a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points, with a confidence level of 95%.
