Russia confirms third stage of discussions with US

(MENAFN) Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov confirmed on Tuesday that a third round of consultations between Russia and the United States is expected to happen soon, though an exact date has yet to be determined.

Speaking to reporters in Sochi, Ryabkov stated, "the third round of bilateral consultations on irritants is imminent. Though it's premature to specify a date, I hope the round will take place very soon."

He noted that while some progress has been made, many challenging issues remain on the agenda, particularly in the complex relationship with the US.

Following the inauguration of US President Donald Trump, Russia and the US held two meetings in Istanbul—on February 27 and April 10—with the goal of restoring the normal functioning of their diplomatic missions and improving bilateral ties.

During the most recent talks, both sides agreed to ease restrictions on diplomatic personnel movement and discuss the matter of Russian diplomatic properties seized in the US.
