Uganda Cites Russian Support in Containing Outbreak
(MENAFN) Uganda has successfully brought a recent Ebola outbreak under control, largely due to its collaboration with Russian counterparts, a representative from the country's Health Ministry stated on Tuesday.
This announcement was made public by Rospotrebnadzor, the Russian federal public health agency.
During the 5th International ‘Scientific and Practical Conference Global Threats to Biological Security: Problems and Solutions’ in Sochi, Dr. Diana Atwine, Uganda’s permanent secretary at the Health Ministry, highlighted the effectiveness of coordinated action in preventing the virus from spreading across borders.
She attributed the achievement to “thanks to joint efforts with our Russian partners, swift containment, and targeted interventions,” acknowledging the vital role of prompt response and focused measures.
In addition, Atwine pointed out the continuing international danger posed by both new and reappearing contagious diseases.
She cautioned that “the scale and intensity of these outbreaks have increased, driven by multiple factors related to both national and global dynamics,” drawing attention to the complex causes behind the growing frequency and severity of such health threats.
