Rubio Extends Russia Day Greetings

(MENAFN) U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio extended congratulations to the citizens of Russia in honor of Russia Day, highlighting America's ongoing commitment to "constructive engagement" with Moscow.

In a formal message, Rubio remarked, "On behalf of the American people, I want to congratulate the Russian people on Russia Day."

Rubio also conveyed support for the Russian population’s hopes "for a brighter future" and underscored Washington’s aim to maintain effective communication with the Kremlin.

He reiterated that the U.S. remains invested in fostering meaningful dialogue with the Russian Federation, aiming to help establish a lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine.

The secretary expressed optimism that such peace would "foster more mutually beneficial relations" between the two nations.

He implied that the resolution of the conflict could pave the way for improved bilateral ties.

Russia Day, celebrated annually since 1992, marks the proclamation of the Declaration of State Sovereignty, which was adopted on June 12, 1990.

In recent months, U.S. Leader Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin have conducted multiple phone conversations.

Furthermore, representatives from both countries convened in Istanbul in February.

These discussions followed earlier agreements between Secretary Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to address matters concerning the functionality of each country's diplomatic missions.
