Elon Musk voices remarks on LA demonstration chaos

(MENAFN) Elon Musk has spoken out against the escalating violence in Los Angeles, where protests have entered their third day following widespread immigration raids. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO posted on X, criticizing the unrest after over 100 people were detained in federal operations across the city.

Tensions rose sharply over the weekend in Paramount and Compton, where protesters clashed with law enforcement by throwing rocks and debris at officers. In response, federal agents used tear gas, pepper balls, and flash-bang grenades to disperse the crowds.

Musk shared an image on social media showing a masked protester standing on a destroyed Waymo vehicle, waving a Mexican flag amid scenes of widespread destruction. “This is not OK,” Musk captioned the photo. Waymo, a subsidiary of Alphabet offering autonomous vehicle services, has since suspended operations in downtown Los Angeles due to safety concerns.

This marks Musk’s first expression of support for federal action since his public rift with President Donald Trump. Their recent feud over Trump’s proposed tax and spending bill led to exchanges of criticism online.

On Sunday, President Trump deployed 2,000 National Guard troops to LA, describing the unrest as an “invasion” by violent migrants and vowing to “liberate” the city. Top federal officials, including Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, were instructed to coordinate a joint crackdown.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has strongly opposed the move, calling it unconstitutional and politically driven. He demanded that Trump reverse the order and restore control of the National Guard to state authorities.
