China, US Reach Plan After Trade Talks
Li stated to reporters in London that “the two sides agreed, in principle, the framework for implementing the consensus of the two heads of state in their firm call on the 5th of June, as well as the consensus of the meeting in Geneva.”
This framework represents the foundational understanding reached by both countries during recent high-level discussions.
Both parties will now report the outcomes of these discussions and the agreed framework back to their respective leaders.
Li emphasized that the teams from China and the US engaged “very diligently” and held “very in-depth exchanges” over the course of the talks.
He further described their communication as “very professional, rational, in-depth and candid,” highlighting the seriousness and openness of the dialogue.
Li expressed optimism that the advancements made during these talks will be “conducive to increasing trust” between the two nations.
He hopes this will foster more stable trade and economic ties and play a positive role in the growth of the global economy.
The fresh round of trade negotiations began on Monday in London, aiming to resolve issues including China’s export limitations on rare earth materials to the US, America’s technology export restrictions to China, and ongoing tariff disputes.
This meeting was held shortly after a phone conversation last week between United States President Donald Trump and Chinese Leader Xi Jinping.
Trump later commented that the call “resulted in a very positive conclusion for both countries,” setting a hopeful tone for the recent negotiations.
