Tottenham Ends Relationship with Head Coach Ange
“Following a review of performances and after significant reflection, the Club can announce that Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties,” the club stated in an official communication.
At 58 years old, Postecoglou guided Spurs to their first trophy in 17 years by securing the UEFA Europa League on May 21.
This triumph made him only the third manager in the club’s history to claim a European title.
“We are extremely grateful to Ange for his commitment and contribution during his two years at the Club,” the statement continued. “Ange will always be remembered as only the third manager in our history to deliver a European trophy.”
Despite this success, Tottenham faced considerable difficulties in the English Premier League during his leadership, finishing 17th in the 2023-24 season — the lowest league standing in the club’s history.
The team managed only 11 victories out of 38 league fixtures and accumulated merely 78 points over the previous 66 Premier League matches.
“Following a positive start in the 2023–24 Premier League season, we recorded 78 points from the last 66 PL games. This culminated in our worst-ever PL finish last season,” the club’s announcement added.
“The Board has unanimously concluded that it is in the best interests of the Club for a change to take place.”
