Russia's Truce Commences Amidst Ukrainian Skepticism

(MENAFN) A unilateral truce declared by Russia is now in effect and is set to last until the end of May 11th. The temporary halt in hostilities was announced by Moscow, following a decision by President Vladimir Putin, to coincide with the 80th anniversary of Victory Day, which marks the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany in 1945.

However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has not endorsed the truce. Furthermore, Zelenskyy advised international guests against traveling to Moscow for the Victory Day events, stating that he "could not guarantee their security." Moscow reacted strongly to these remarks, labeling them as "threats."

Kremlin representative Dmitry Peskov issued a warning, stating that if Ukraine violates the ceasefire, the Russian military will deliver "an adequate and effective response."
